ABOUT ME

Lauralyn Kolb holds degrees from Occidental College, where she sang with Howard Swan, and from Smith College, where, as a student of Adrienne Auerswald, she was trained in the bel canto tradition as passed down from Marcella Sembrich through Queena Mario and Anna Hamlin.  Post-degree study was with Ms. Auerswald and with the noted American soprano Helen Boatwright.

Kolb was a lecturer in voice at Hamilton College for thirty-eight years and maintains a private studio at home and in NYC.  She also taught at Colgate University for nineteen years, has given master classes on both coasts, and has served as the New York State Governor for the National Association of Teachers of Singing.  Her former students have been heard throughout the US and Europe in operatic, musical theater, recital, and choral venues.

Kolb performed extensively throughout the US in recital, oratorio, and opera.  She recorded Lieder by Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel with pianist Arlene Shrut (Centaur Records); Songs by Clara Schumann, Poldowski, and Amy Beach with pianist Don McMahon (Albany Records); and Just-Spring—Art Songs of John Duke, with pianist Tina Toglia (New World Records, Recorded Anthology of American Music).
